Okay then.Walking into the city felt less like entering any other town, and more like walking onto a set – just a really busy one. Everyone seemed to have stopped dead in their tracks when I walked past this morning market, eyes glued to my direction as if spotting something unusual was way more important than anything else they actually needed to do today.
It's weird how you feel walking into somewhere feeling totally new and fresh there? Like that first day of school or starting a completely different job. That kind of excitement mixed with nervousness is hard not to carry around, like a physical weight in your pockets.
And then the photos started popping up everywhere! Yesterday someone actually took my picture right over by the noodle shop – just standing there waiting for my number twelve noodles. My heart didn't even beat as fast as I thought it would; I just smiled back because honestly? It felt really good to be looked at like that.
It’s one of those weird moments, you know what I mean? Being treated differently without saying a single word, yet having your whole existence acknowledged in the blink of an eye. Almost like walking through this place feels like stepping out onto a movie set – except no one had ever written *your* script before.
The attention was deafening, absolutely impossible to ignore. And weirdly enough? It still is kinda thrilling sometimes. That feeling of being utterly misunderstood by everyone around you because they can't quite figure you out yet?
Yeah...
I think the real test might be figuring out if that wonder comes with respect or just a lot more curiosity than common courtesy.
But maybe Shenzhen’s charm lies in its sheer lack of judgment? I mean, we’re all here for different reasons – chasing dreams mostly – and who knows what story someone else is living over there?
I saw a guy walking around dressed like he’d walked out of the eighties today. Did you notice how many people stopped to look at his retro jacket before continuing their day? It was just another Tuesday down here, apparently.
Anyway, I think finding somewhere where everyone is so upfront about being curious makes me appreciate the little things more when we finally get there. Like maybe grabbing a bowl of *real* good noodles tonight?
Definitely worth trying that out in Shenzhen's setting, right?
