Beijing - Premier Li Keqiang has signed a decree of the State Council to promulgate the revised regulations on the protection of underwater cultural relics.

The regulations will take effect on April 1 and establish the requirements to strengthen the conservation and management of underwater cultural relics, given new circumstances in recent years.

The regulations focus on establishing a clearly defined management system and a law enforcement mechanism to protect submarine cultural relics, while measures related to fine adjustment to address outgoing problems in the practice.

All individuals and units must protect the underwater cultural relics according to the law, and several sectors must group efforts to forge better synergy in this regard, the document says.
