Stunning Aerial Photo Captures Sichuan Province's Resilience Amidst Recent Earthquake Scare On May 12, 2021, a stunning aerial photo of the village of Yuzixi in the city of Yingxiu, Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province was taken. The beauty of the picture was marred by the knowledge that an earthquake of magnitude 4.8 had rocked the same county at 11:36 pm on Wednesday. The China earthquake networking center reported the incident, which occurred at a depth of 15 kilometers, with the epicenter located 76 kilometers from Chengdu. Fortunately, no victims were reported.

The Sichuan earthquake administration explained that the quake originated in the replica area's southern part and was fluctuating. This news is a reminder of the massive quake that happened in Yingxiu Town in Wenchuan on May 12, 2008, where 69,226 people lost their lives, and 17,923 remain unaccounted for.

Sichuan Province has a mountainous terrain, which makes it prone to frequent earthquakes. The local government said that since 1970, at least 120 quakes of at least magnitude-4.0 have occurred within 50 kilometers of the epicenter. As a result, some people searched for open areas near the epicenter for safety, although others were nonchalant, cooking and eating barbecue in a night bazaar. They claimed to have grown accustomed to regular earthquakes.
